1. Weather:
Broken low clouds along the west coast becoming overcast.
Scattered to broken low clouds over the rest of Korea. Visibility 6
miles. Forecast: No change. (FEAF) (SECRET)
2. Enemy Situation:
Stubborn resistance by hostile screening forces continued, es
pecially in the Yanggu-Sohwa area, where several battalion-size enemy
groups were engaged. Air observer 1,571 enemy vehicles, 394 of which
were southbound. (FECOM) (SECRET)
3. United Nations Situation:
GROUND:
a. General: Friendly units making probing attacks in the X
US Corps sector advanced up to 3 miles ahead of the front lines and en-
countered stubborn resistance, after which they returned to previous posi-
tions. Other UN units continued aggressive patrolling across the front.
The 25th Canadian Brigade moved to assembly positions east of Munsan
and passed to operational control of the I US Corps. (FECOM) (SECRET)
b. I US Corps: Patrols from the 1st ROK Division and 3d
US Infantry Division continued to encounter scattered enemy resistance
east of Kaesong and north of Kumhwa. 3d Division elements repulsed an
enemy company-size attack near Kumhwa. Other friendly units patrolled
without resistance: 25th US Infantry Division elements ranged 6, 000
yards ahead of main positions in the Yonchon area. (FECOM) (SECRET)
