1. Weather:
Scattered to overcast low, middle and high clouds throughout the
period. Visibility 2 to 8 miles. Forecast: Broken low and overcast
middle and high clouds. Visibility 3 to 5 miles. (FEAF) (SECRET)
2. Enemy Situation:
Hostile resistance continued stubborn northeast of Yanggu, and
numerous squad- to company-size probing attacks were made against
friendly positions across the front, Increased enemy mortar and artil
lery fire was received, and air reported enemy dug-in all along the IX
Corps front. Air sighted 4, 753 vehicles during the period, 2, 304 of
which were south-bound Two reports were received of armed CCF de-
serters northwest of Sinanju; these reports described concentrations of
3, 500 and 4, 000g respectively. (FECOM) (SECRET)
3. United Nations Situation:
GROUND
a. General: Attacking elements gained up to 2 miles against
stiff resistance in the X Corps area, as other friendly units continued
aggressive patrolling across the front. The 1st Commonwealth Division
assumed control of the 25th Canadian Brigade and the 28th and 29th Bri-
tish Brigades, in the I Corps sector. (FECOM) (SECRET)
