1. Weather:
Overcast high and middle clouds with broken low clouds. Cumu-
lous and thunderstorm activity reported. Visibility six to eight miles.
Forecast: Overcast high and broken middle clouds with scattered low
clouds. Visibility five to seven miles. (FEAF) (SECRET)
2. Enemy Situation:
Hostile activity increased in the western sector, where groups up
to company-size stubbornly resisted UN patrolling, and four probing at-
tacks were made upon friendly positions. Enemy resistance was light
to moderate in other sectors. Air observed an estimated enemy regi-
ment in the area four miles south of Kumsong. (FECOM) (SECRET)
3. United Nations Situation:
GROUND:
a. General: Friendly forces launched a limited attack
against company-strength resistance east of the Pukhan River and en-
gaged a company in an all-day fight northwest of Yonchon near the Imjin
River. Elsewhere, UN patrols maintained contact and probed enemy
positions. The 2d Battalion of the 34th US Infantry Regiment closed
into an assembly area with the 1st Battalion of the 34th Regiment 16
miles southeast of Yonchon. The Netherlands Battalion, in assembly
area near Inje, reverted to Army control. Elements of the Ethiopian
Battalion, attached to the 7th US Infantry Division, moved to patrol-base
positions in the center of the IX Corps sector. (FECOM) (SECRET)
