1. Weather:
Multilayered clouds moving south with gradual clearing during the
day. Visibility good. Forecast: Broken to overcast high, middle, and
low clouds with rain and thunderstorms. Visibility seven miles. (FEAF)

2. Enemy Situation:
Hostile groups of up to battalion strength probed UN positions in the
central and east-central sectors, forcing a slight withdrawal at one point
northeast of Yanggu. An estimated 1, 000 enemy troops and other smaller
groups were observed to the front of the X US Corps. Air observed 1, 188
enemy vehicles, of which 539 were moving south. (FECOM) (SECRET)

8. General: UN forces continued to attack in the central and ;
east-central sectors and made slight gains against stubborn resistance.
Several hostile probing attacks were repulsed. In other sectors, friendly
patrols dispersed hostile groups of up to company strength. (FECOM)

b. I US Corps: Elements of the 1st ROK and 1st US Cavalry
Divisions patrolled their respective sectors against enemy groups of up to
reinforced company strength. The 1st British Commonwealth Division
reported no enemy contact, but friendly patrols discovered 10 stick grenades
at a point 7 miles southwest of Yonchon. Units of the 3d US Infantry Division
repulsed two small probing attacks near Chorwon. (FECOM) (SECRET)
