NAVY:
f. Naval and Marine aircraft flew a total of more than 333 sorties,
including 174 from BOXER and ESSEX on the east coast, 22 by Patrons,
and 137 by shore-based USMC aircraft, East coast carrier aircraft struck
troop concentrations and other enemy targets near Pukchong, Hamhung,
Wonsan, and along the battle line. GLORY aircraft conducted operations

g. On the east coast, CHARITY, CRAIG, and HANNA bombarded
enemy installations at Songjin and Chongjin. PARKS, SEIVERLING, and
others bombarded gun positions, troop areas, and other enemy targets at
Wonsan. At the bombline HELENA, PORTERFIELD, and PERKINS
harassed 9 troop and gun positions; shore fire control parties reported

h. On the west coast, blockade ships patrolled from Inchon to
Chodo Island and reported no enemy boat contact. Frigates and ROK
Navy craft bombarded enemy troops, gun positions, and installations in

AIR:
1. On 6 September, UN aircraft under FEAF control (less
USMC) flew 655 sorties. Three hundred and thirty-five combat sorties
were flown, of which 20 were by RAAF and 20 by SAAF aircraft. All UN
aircraft under FEAF control flew 80 close support, 191 armed re-
connaissance, 88 counter air, and 91 night intruder sorties. The 315th
Air Division flew 179 sorties, airlifting 2, 218 passengers, 413 evacuees,
and 301 tons of freight. (FEAF) (SECRET)
