Weather: Generally clear at the beginning of the period with high clouds building up to overcast by the end of the period. Visibility six to eight miles. Forecast: Overcast high clouds with multilayered clouds, thunder- storms and heavy showers moving into the northwest sector of Korea during the day. Visibility seven miles. (FEAF) (SECRET) 2. Enemy Situation: Groups of squad to platoon size continued to oppose UN patrols, while groups up to company size were observed, in the west and west-central sector. Near Kumhwa, one company attacked UN positions. In the east- central sector, enemy groups up to regiment in size opposed UN advances, while groups up to battalion size launched a number of attacks against for- ward UN positions. Only minor activity was reported in the eastern sector. The adjusted total of enemy vehicular sightings during the period 12-13 September is 1, 015, of which 691 were southbound. (FECOM) (SECRET) 3. United Nations Situation: ARMY: a. General: UN forces in the west and west-central sectors continued aggressive patrol operations. In the Kumhwa-Songam area, ele- ments of two UN Divisions continued limited objective attacks against light to moderate opposition. In the sector east of the Pukhan River, elements of five UN divisions continued offensive operations against moderate to stub- born opposition. Limited gains were reported. (FECOM) (SECRET) SS E.O.
