1. Weather:
Broken to overcast high clouds, with variable amounts middle and
low clouds. Visibility four to six miles. Forecast: Decreasing cloudiness
during the night. Visibility 10 miles. (FEAF) (SECRET)
2. Enemy Situation:
Well entrenched battalion- and regimental-size groups continued to
resist stubbornly in the east-central sector, northeast of Yanggu. Numerous
probing attacks of up to company strength were made on UN positions from
the Pukhan River east to the coast. Adjusted report of enemy vehicle
sightings for 23-24 September: 4,330, of which 3, 168 were moving south.

3. United Nations Situation:
ARMY:
a. General: UN attacking forces gained approximately one mile
north of Yanggu, but were unable to advance northeast of Yanggu against
determined enemy resistance. All hostile probing attacks were repulsed,
and agressive patrolling continued in other sectors. The Greek Battalion
(attached to the 1st US Cavalry Division) has established a patrol base to
the Division front, southwest of Chorwon. The Philippine Battalion has
occupied front line positions in the 3d US Infantry Division sector, east
of Chorwon. (FECOM) (SECRET)
