Cavalry Division patrolled against platoon- and company-size groups. Six
hundred ninety-seven rounds of enemy mortar and artillery fire fell in the
Division sector. 9th ROK Division patrols engaged and dispersed squad-
to company-size groups north of Chorwon, (FECOM) (SECRET)
C. IX US Corps: Patrols from the 25th US Infantry Division engaged
groups of platoon and undetermined size northwest of Kumhwa. Two small
enemy probing attacks were repulsed north of Kumhwa, Two wounded PW's
of the 35th Regiment, were recovered by a friendly patrol after they had
previously been released by the enemy during the day. Patrols from the 2d
ROK Division engaged squad- to platoon=size groups southwest of Kumsong.
Elements of the Division attacked on the morning of 25 October and engaged
a group of undetermined size. A tank patrol from the 24th US Infantry Divi-
sion advanced to the vicinity of Kumsong and destroyed 28 occupied bunkers.
Other elements of the Division attacked in the area southeast of Kumsong
and made slight gains against groups of undetermined size. The attack con-
tinued on the morning of 25 October. On the Corps right flank, units of the
6th ROK Division attacked and gained up to 2,000 yards against resistance
from two hostile platoons. Other elements of the Division were unable to
gain against company-strength resistance. Forward units of the Division
continued to attack as the period closed, (FECOM) (SECRET)
d. X US Corps: Elements of the 8th ROK Division attacked against
platoon=strength resistance just west of the Yanggu-Marhwi road and gained
up to 2, , 000 yards. Other units of the Division patrolled against numerous
squad- and platoon-size groups from this road west to the Pukhan River.
Tank elements of the 7th US Infantry Division probed northward but withdrew
under enemy fire. Three small hostile probing attacks were repulsed in the
Division sector. One friendly tank was damaged by a mine just east of the
Yanggu=Marhwi road. Farther east, units of the 3d ROK and 1st US Marine
Divisions patrolled against numerous squad- to company-size groups north-
west and north of Sohwa. Two small probing attacks were repulsed by 3d
ROK Division forces. (FECOM) (SECRET)
e. I ROK Corps: Elements of the 11th and Capitol ROK Divisions en-
gaged or observed numerous groups of squad- to company-size in the area
between Komisong and Kosong. (FECOM) (SECRET)
