1. Weather:
Generally broken to overcast sky conditions persisted over Korea on 1
November with occasional showers in eastern sectors. Visibility in valleys
less than three miles during morning. Maximum battle area temperature
57 degrees, minimum 40. Forecast: Cloud conditions will remain generally
the same, with visibility over 10 miles except in patches of fog. (FEAF)

2. Enemy Situation:
Activity decreased across the front, although platoon- and company-size
groups continued to probe UN positions west and northwest of Yonchon in the
western sector, southeast of Kumsong in the central sector, and northeast of
Yanggu in the east-central sector. One of the attacks against ROK positions
southeast of Kumsong increased to two companies in strength and was continu-
ing as the period closed. Artillery barrages preceeded hostile attacks against
1st US Cavalry Division positions northwest of Yonchon. Anti-personnel mines
were encountered near the east bank of the Pukhan River northwest of Yanggu.
Mortar and artillery fire continued moderate to heavy against Cavalry Division
positions and on UN positions in the X Corps sector. The V North Korean
Corps has moved from the area southeast of Marhwi to the vicinity of Yonghung,
near the east coast between Wonsan and Hamhung. The adjusted total of vehicle
sightings for 31 October as 1 November is 1, 742, of which 1, 486 were south -

3. United Nations Situation:
ARMY:
a. General: UN forces continued to probe up to three miles northeast of
Kumsong in the central sector and up to two miles ahead of forward positions
in the east-central sector, north of Yanggu. Two UN tanks were destroyed and
one damaged during the period. Scattered hostile probing attacks were repulsed
across the front. UN patrols continued to engage small groups. (FECOM)
