1. Weather:
On 8 November, the weather was clear in the morning with a few scattered
cumulus clouds in the afternoon. Visibility generally unrestricted. Today there
were scattered low clouds over Korea becoming broken during the morning.
Visibility remained unrestricted. Forecast: Broken low clouds over the west
coast with the rest of Korea having scattered clouds. A cold front is moving
into North Korea and will remain almost stationary until late in the evening.
Weather in the front will be broken low and occasionally overcast middle clouds
with scattered snow showers. Slow improvement during the day. (FEAF)

2. Enemy Situation:
Company- and battalion-size probing attacks were made against ROK posi-
tions northwest of Sohwa in the east-central sector. Smaller attacks were made
against UN positions in the western and central sectors. Fifteen tanks were ob-
served to the front of the 1st US Cavalry Division and were taken under Cavalry
Division artillery fire. Mines damaged two UN tanks west and northwest of
Kumhwa; mines were also encountered by UN tank patrols north of Yanggu. Six
hundred sixty-three rounds of mortar and artillery fire fell on Cavalry Division
positions, and 915 rounds fell on 24th US Infantry Division positions south and
southeast of Kumsong. The 12th CCF Army, formerly located north of Singye,
has moved eastward to positions southeast of Hoeyang on the Pukhan River, with
one division in the line opposite the 6th ROK Division. The adjusted total of
vehicle sightings for 7-8 November is 2,221, of which 1, 639 were southbound.

3. United Nations Situation:
ARMY:
a. General: UN forces repulsed several probing attacks across the front
and continued to probe enemy defensive positions. Cavalry Division artillery
destroyed an enemy tank northwest of Yonchon, and 6th ROK Division tank-infan-
try patrols destroyed 21 bunkers southeast of Kumsong. (FECOM) (SECRET)
b. I US Corps: A patrol from the 1st ROK Division forced an enemy pla-
toon to withdraw from an engagement southeast of Kaesong. Other Division units
observed several platoon-strength groups across the Division front. Elements
