Weather: Weather for the period consisted of scattered low broken clouds over most of Korea, with unrestricted visibility. Temperature ranged between 18 to 40 degrees. (FEAF) (SECRET) 2. Enemy Situation: Activity increased in the central and east-central sectors, where several company- and battalion-strength attacks were made southwest and east of Kumsong, forcing UN outpost positions to withdraw at some points. A regimental-strength group attacked UN positions northwest of Sohwa on the night of 23-24 November. Enemy pressure continued strong in the western sector as several company and battalion-strength attacks were made on positions west of Yonchon; one of these attacks was supported by tank fire. Mortar and artillery fire continued heavy in this sector. The 105th North Korean Tank Division, formerly located near Sariwon, has moved to the vicinity of Sukchon, south of Sinanju in northwest Korea. The adjusted total of vehicle sightings for 22-25 November is 6, 393, of which 5, 232 were south- bound. (FECOM) (SECRET) 3. United Nations Situation: ARMY: a. General: UN forces counterattacked and regained a hill position west of Yonchon in the western sector and defended it against repeated counter- attacks. Elsewhere, UN forces repulsed numerous strong enemy probing attacks and counterattacked least of Kumsong to regain outpost positions. The 3d ROK Division passed to control of the ROK Army at 230430(KT). The 8th ROK Division, also under ROK Army control, assembled east of Kapyong. (FECOM) (SECRET) b. I US Corps: Elements of the 1st ROK Division repulsed a company- strength probing attack 10 miles southeast of Kaesong; friendly units later attacked in this vicinity and engaged a hostile battalion. This action was con- tinuing as the period closed. Four other platoon=strength probing attacks were repulsed by Division units. Elements of the 1st British Commonwealth Security information
