1. Weather:
Korea was generally cloudy during the period with rain showers north
of the 37th Parallel. Maximum temperature along the battle area 40 degrees,
minimum 30. Forecast: Increasing cloudiness and occasional snow showers.
Visibility will lower to 3 miles or less. (FEAF) (SECRET)
2. Enemy Situation:
The enemy continued to make scattered squad- to company-size probing
attacks against UN positions, forcing outpost positions to withdraw to the
MLR at three points. Artillery and mortar fire increased in the central and
east-central sectors. Two CCF companies attacked and occupied Chungsan-
ni Island 30 miles west-southwest of Kaesong on 8 December, Friendly
forces withdrew to Yongmae-do Island. Few casualties resulted. No further
details of this incident are available. Five unidentified aircraft bombed and
strafed UN positions nine miles north-northwest of Kansong on 8 December.
The 39th CCF Army has relieved the 47th CCF Army in the line west of
Chorwon. The 47th CCF Army has moved to the Sibyon area. The adjusted
total of vehicle sightings for 6-9 December is 3, 955, of which 2, 563 were

3. United Nations Situation:
ARMY:
a. General: UN forces continued to engage scattered enemy
groups in daily patrol clashes and repulsed several hostile probing attacks.
UN troops reoccupied outpost positions from which they had previously with-
drawn. The first echelon of the.45th US Infantry Division arrived at Inchon
