Weather: Korea was generally cloudy during the period with rain showers north of the 37th Parallel. Maximum temperature along the battle area 40 degrees, minimum 30. Forecast: Increasing cloudiness and occasional snow showers. Visibility will lower to 3 miles or less. (FEAF) (SECRET) 2. Enemy Situation: The enemy continued to make scattered squad- to company-size probing attacks against UN positions, forcing outpost positions to withdraw to the MLR at three points. Artillery and mortar fire increased in the central and east-central sectors. Two CCF companies attacked and occupied Chungsan- ni Island 30 miles west-southwest of Kaesong on 8 December, Friendly forces withdrew to Yongmae-do Island. Few casualties resulted. No further details of this incident are available. Five unidentified aircraft bombed and strafed UN positions nine miles north-northwest of Kansong on 8 December. The 39th CCF Army has relieved the 47th CCF Army in the line west of Chorwon. The 47th CCF Army has moved to the Sibyon area.
