1. Weather:
On 9 January, there were multilayered clouds, snow, and low ceil-
ings. Visibility 2 to 5 miles. Maximum temperature 39, minimum 28.
Forecast: Multilayered clouds associated with cold front, clearing during
the day. (FEAF) (SECRET)
2. Enemy Situation:
Activity decreased in the 1st ROK Division sector on the west flank.
A small probing attack was made against 1st British Commonwealth Divi-
sion positions northeast of Panmunjom, and a platoon-size attack against
the 7th ROK Division northeast of Yanggu forced a friendly withdrawal. The
adjusted total of vehicle sightings for the period 8-9 January is 559, of
which 382 were southbound. (FECOM) (SECRET)
3. United Nations Situation:
ARMY:
a. General: ROK forces counterattacked northeast of Yanggu
and regained positions from which they had previously withdrawn. Other
UN forces continued aggressive patrolling against numerous squad- and
platoon=size hostile groups. (FECOM) (SECRET)
