Weather: Clear until 0600 (KT), becoming low, broken and middle clouds along the west coast south of Pyongyang. Generally broken along the west coast of North Korea. Maximum temperature 42 degrees, minimum 20 degrees. Forecast: Broken low and middle clouds with high overcast. Visibility restricted 1 to 3 miles in snow showers. Temperature to remain about the same. (FEAF) (SECRET) 2. Enemy Situation: Light probing attacks were made upon UN positions across the front. A possible tank or SP gun was observed northeast of Chorwon. The ad- justed total of vehicle sightings for 20-21 January is 247, of which 196 were southbound (FECOM) (SECRET) 3. United Nations Situation: ARMY: a. General: UN forces repulsed light probing attacks and con- tinued to patrol against scattered enemy groups. A raiding patrol from the 7th ROK Division engaged a hostile platoon north of Yanggu. The second echelon of the 40th US Division (223₫ Regiment and supporting troops) closed at Inchon at 220610 (KT). The 40th US Division was assigned to the Eighth Army and attached to the IX US Corps effective 22 January. The 7th US Regiment was relieved in positions in the line west of Yonchon and moved to the area 14 miles north of Uijongbu under operational control of the I US Corps effective 191600 (KT).
