1. Weather:
High broken clouds becoming overcast on the west coast. Visibility
restricted 1-3 miles in early morning due to fog and haze. Maximum battle
area temperature 30 degrees, minimum 5 degrees. Forecast: Cold front
will pass through Korea preceded by multilayered clouds, Ceilings as low
as 800-feet expected. Visibility 1 to 3 miles in fog and snow. Maximum
battle area temperature 35 degrees, minimum 15 degrees. (FEAF) (SECRET)
2. Enemy Situation:
An estimated enemy company attacked outpost elements of the 3d US
Division northwest of Yonchon, forcing friendly elements to withdraw. The
enemy later withdrew from this position. Two other squad-strength enemy
probes and numerous patrol intercepts were reported. The adjusted total
of vehicle sightings for 4-5 February is 1, 064, of which 676 were southbound,

2. General: Elements of the 3d US Division northwest of Yon-
chon reoccupied outpost positions from which they had previously withdrawn
under attack by an enemy company. North of Chorwon, a reinforced battal-
ion of the 9th ROK Division raided enemy positions. Elsewhere, UN patrols
continued to engage numerous enemy groups up to platoon strength. (FECOM)
