(Maps attached) From 0700/04 (EST) to 0700/05 (EST) From 2100/04 (Korea) to 2100/05 (Korea) 1. Weather: High broken clouds over Korea dissipated rapidly after dark. Maxi- mum battle area temperature 33 degrees, minimum 10 degrees. Forecast: High broken and middle clouds becoming scattered later in the day. Visi- bility unrestricted. Maximum battle area temperature 35 degrees, minimum 20 degrees. (FEAF) (SECRET) 2. Enemy Situation: Four small-scale enemy probes, one in platoon strength, were di- rected against UN positions. Enemy groups in squad to platoon strength intercepted UN patrols across the front, Several company- to battalion- size enemy groups in the enemy's immediate rear area were observed mov- ing south during daylight. Light to moderate mortar and artillery fire was directed against friendly positions on the eastern front. The adjusted total of vehicle sightings for 3-4 March is 1, 970, of which 1, 107 were southbound (FECOM) (SECRET) 3. United Nations Situation: ARMY: a. General: UN forces continued to patrol across the front. (FECOM) (SECRET) b. I US Corps: An enemy squad probed outpost positions of the 1st ROK Division northeast of Panmunjom, and Division patrols encoun- tered two squad-strength enemy groups. No enemy contact was reported in the 1st British Commonwealth and 3d US Division sectors. A small enemy group fired on outpost positions of the 45th US Division west of Chorwon. There was no contact with the enemy in the 9th ROK Division sector. Aerial observers reported 1 enemy group of approximately 200g and a second group of 400 to 600g moving south-southwest about 10 miles north of Chorwon. (FECOM) (SECRET)
