Weather: Broken high clouds becoming broken middle clouds. Rain during most of daylight hours along the battle front. On least coast, multilayer clouds with bases as low as a 1, 000 foot visibility restricted to 2 to 5 miles in rain and snow. Maximum battle area temperature 45 degrees, minimum 35 de- grees. Forecast: Northwest Korea to have scattered low clouds. East coast, overcast with ceilings as low as 2,000 foot visibility restricted to 2 to 5 miles in rain and snow. Maximum battle area temperature 40 degrees, minimum 20 degrees. (FEAF) (SECRET) 2. Enemy Situation: With the exception of one squad-strength probe in the eastern sector, enemy activity was limited to patrol intercepts. The adjusted total of vehi- cle sightings for 5-6 March is 1, 297, of which 994 were southbound. (FECOM) (SECRET) 3. United Nations Situation: ARMY: a. General; UN patrols encountered numerous enemy groups of squad to two platoons in strength across the front. One small-scale enemy probe was repulsed. (FECOM) (SECRET) b. I US Corps: Patrols of the 1st ROK Division reported en- gagements with small enemy groups northeast of Panmunjom. There was no contact with enemy forces in the 1st British Commonwealth Division sec tor. Patrols of the 3d US and 45th US Divisions reported clashes with squad- size enemy groups.
