1. Weather:
Scattered low clouds over all Korea. Heavy fog and low stratus
formed over central and north lowlands restricting visibility to 0 to 3
miles. Maximum battle area temperature 52 degrees, minimum 30 de-
grees. Forecast: Scattered middle and high clouds with ceilings lower-
ing to ,000 feet. Visibility restricted to 2-4 miles in rain. Maximum
battle area temperature 55 degrees, minimum 32 degrees. (FEAF) (SECRET)
2. Enemy Situation:
Squad-size enemy groups continued to probe UN positions in the cen-
tral and least-central sectors, least of Kumsong and north of Yanggu.
Mortar and artillery fire continued moderate in these sectors. The ad-
justed total of vehicle sightings for 26-27 March is 1, 047, of which 946

3. United Nations Situation:
ARMY:
a. General: UN forces repulsed light probing attacks in the
central and east-central sectors and continued to encounter squad- and
platoon-size groups in patrol clashes across the front. The 1st ROK Divi-
sion passed to operational control of the Chief of Staff, ROK Army, at
262235 (KT). (FECOM) (SECRET)
b. I US Corps: Small enemy groups briefly harassed friendly
outpost positions of the 1st US Marine Division seven miles northeast of
Panmunjom on the night of 26-27 March. The 1st British Commonwealth
Division reported no enemy contact, although 162 rounds of hostile mortar
and artillery fire fell in the Division sector. Patrols from the 3d US Division
engaged squad- and platoon-size groups northwest of Yonchon, near the north
bank of the Irjjn River. No contact was reported by the 45th US Division.
An undetermined number of enemy were dispersed by a 9th ROK Division
patrol base seven miles northwest of Chorwon. (FECOM) (SECRET)
