1. Weather:
Overcast high clouds over all Korea, overcast middle clouds below 39
degrees north; visibility restricted. Forecast: Clear with occasional low
clouds, visibility unrestricted. (FEAF) (SECRET)
2. Enemy Situation:
One enemy group estimated at company strength made a brief probing attack
on positions in the central sector during the night of 22 April. Elsewhere, small
groups probed at scattered points across the front. The volume of enemy mortar
and artillery fire, light to moderate in all sectors except near the east coast
where none was reported, was heaviest in the least-central sector. On 23 April,
propaganda leaflets were dispensed by artillery fire at three points in the central
and east-central sectors, and loud speakers were used to broadcast propaganda
in the east coast sector. Several platoon=size enemy groups with a total of
130 men were observed in the area east of Kumsong on 22 April. Six enemy
groups, aggregating an estimated regiment in size, were observed northeast
and east of Kaesong on 23 April. The Fifteenth CCF Army has moved eastward
approximately 15 miles to the area north of Pyonggang. The 1st and 3d CCF
Armored Divisions each have unidentified regiments attached in support of the
CCF Armies disposed along the western portion of the front. The remainder of
the two armored divisions are unlocated in North Korea. The adjusted total of
vehicle sightings for 20-23 April is 12, 777, of which 7, 072 were southbound.

3. United Nations Situation:
ARMY:
a. General: UN patrols engaged groups up to platoon strength in daily
patrol clashes at scattered points across the front. The 1st ROK Division passed
from the ROK Army to operational control of the I US Corps and assembled to the
rear of the 3d US Division. The 38th Regiment and Netherlands Battalion passed
from 2d US Division to the 2d Logistics Command and closed at Koje-do on 22
