Weather: Weather throughout the period was generally operational and clear, except for part of 20 and 23 November when there was considerable cloud cover with rain. Temperatures ranged from a low of 17° to a high of 52° F. (FEAF) (SECRET) 2. Enemy Situation: Enemy activity continued moderately heavy in the west-central sector where enemy forces of up to battalion-strength launched attacks against UN positions on SNIPER RIDGE on the first, second, and fourth days of the period, and numerous attacks of platoon and two-platoon strength were made against UN positions on ROCKY POINT (just east of SNIPER RIDGE) through out the period. Northeast of CHORWON, enemy attacks of undetermined strength forced UN elements to withdraw from OP positions on HILL 391, on 22 November, but enemy elements later withdrew and UN elements re- occupied position without contact. Subsequent enemy attacks on 23 November were repulsed. In the west sector, on 21 November, an enemy reinforced company attacked an OP position of the 1st ROK Division, 14 miles south- west of CHORWON, and forced UN elements to withdraw. Here, too, enemy elements withdrew and the position was reoccupied by UN troops without contact. At the same location, on 23 November, this action was duplicated. Elsewhere across the front, sporadic probing attacks of less than company strength, and scattered minor patrol clashes were highlighted by several engagements of up to three hours duration in the central sector, near the PUKHAN RIVER® Hostile mortar and artillery fire for the period totalled approximately 34, 300 rounds of which almost 15, 700 fell in the IX US Corps E.O. 12065, Sec. 3-402 DOD Directive 5100.30, June 18, 3/7/81 1979 HC_NARS, Date By NLT-
