TRUMAN
Dear J. C.:
ARCHIVES NATIONAL ORDS AND
SERVICE"
I certainly appreciated your nice letter of
August third. It just now arrived.
By this time I am sure you will be in Tokyo
and I know you will get a kick out of being on
the ship where the surrender is accepted. It
will be something you can talk about the rest
of your days.
I had quite a time with the Big Three in Berlin
but I think we came out with the things in which
we were most interested and have set up a program,
which will help with the peace, I think.
As I told you in a previous letter, I have a watch
for you which I brought back from Berlin, but I
did not think I would take a chance on mailing it
to you, so you may get it for a Christmas present
if you get home by that time.
I have had some very nice letters from your dad
and all the rest of the family and they are all in
good shape and feeling fine.
Sincerely yours,
