August 29, 1945 TRUMAN Dear J. C.: ARCHIVES NATIONAL ORDS AND SERVICE" I certainly appreciated your nice letter of August third. It just now arrived. By this time I am sure you will be in Tokyo and I know you will get a kick out of being on the ship where the surrender is accepted. It will be something you can talk about the rest of your days. I had quite a time with the Big Three in Berlin but I think we came out with the things in which we were most interested and have set up a program, which will help with the peace, I think. As I told you in a previous letter, I have a watch for you which I brought back from Berlin, but I did not think I would take a chance on mailing it to you, so you may get it for a Christmas present if you get home by that time. I have had some very nice letters from your dad and all the rest of the family and they are all in good shape and feeling fine. Sincerely yours, John C. Truman S 1/c U.S.S.
