Dear Harry:
I certainly was glad to get your letter of May tenth.
I wrote you a day or two ago in longhand but I am so
covered up with business today I do not have time to
write you a longhand letter.
I know just exactly how you feel about going back to
close order duty. I had to do it myself after the last
war. It is a part of the game to keep you busy so you
won't get into devilment and since you are a Corporal you
are going to have to help the "old man" to get it done.
I wish I could have been with you on this last drive -
it must have been a good one.
I know what it means to live in a little old dirty town
like the one you described. I spent a great many days in
towns of that sort.
I hope you will be able to come thru God's country on
the way to Japan. I would like very much to see you.
Remember me to your gang and tell them that the whole
country is appreciative of what they did to lick the
Germans.
Your grandmother and Aunt Mary left for home last Monday
evening. Your Aunt Mary called me up yesterday morning
to tell me they arrived safely and both were in good
health.
Sincerely yours,
AND
TURNER
