PITTSFIELD, MASS.
HARRY ARCHIVES "NATIONAL SERVICE" RECORDS TRUMAN AND
GOVERNMENT
It's good to be back in Massachusetts.
It's good to be in a state that has given majorities
to every Democratic Presidential candidate for the last
twenty years.
And I'm particularly pleased to be in Berkshire County.
The Republicans probably are trying to keep it a secret,
but it was here in Western Massachusetts that the
real progressive anovement began in this country -
just after the Revolution.

I remember our good friend, President Roosevelt,
telling me about old Mr. Treadway who used to represent ed
an Congression
this District in the Congress for so many years.
