Hilken, August 15, 1951 Department of Justice Elting Arnold, Assistant General Counsel GREAT ARCHIVES "NATIONAL RECORDS TRUMAN AND LIBRARY China lobby U.S. SERVICE" GOVERNMENT In accordance with a telephone conversation between a representa- tive of this office and Mr. Harold D. Koffsky of the Department of Justice, I am transmitting to you herewith a list of individuals and entities whose activities may be of interest in connection with the current investigation of the China lobby. The Treasury Department is at the present time searching its files with respect to these names. In particular, the income tax returns, the Foreign Assets Control files, and the census reports on TFR-300, 500, and 603 are being searched. The purpose of this transmittal is to allow the Department of Justice to make such search of the Foreign Funds Control files or any other files in its possession as may be appropriate under the circumstances. In this connection we wish to point out that the Foreign Funds Control files relating to the "Chinese Government United States Dollar Savings Certificates", and relating to the property censuses are being searched by this Department and this work need not be duplicated.
