is section two) with your wisdom and vision you fully
comprchended the criticcl situation which now facos
Chinc and thot you wore encer to extend every means of
practical help to our people so c.s to encble them to
merch forward shoulder to shoulder with your peoplo to
common victory. I was so hecrtened thrt I hostenod to
recssure the Chinese beorle of the strongth cnd solidcrity
of our united efforts. I cm still convinced thot as
leader of Nations you will do your utmost to encble
China to continue our resistence and do our full port in
global war. I am sure you vi 11 realize I will do every-
thing in my power to rally the support of the Chinose
Notion for c. speedy victory and that I hove oven gono to
the length of delcying reopening of the Burme route so
thet essenticl omphibious equipment should be diverted
to European theater of wer, thorely discppointing cll
soctions of my follow countrymen who still bear in memory
the scor of the fiesco of the last Burme campcign thru
