I learn from Hearn, Chisf of Staff, that
General Yu Ta-Tei, Chief of Ordnance Chinese Army,
has been discussing with him possible use of United
States Lend Lease Equipment by Chinese Government
forces against Chinese Communists. Hearn says he
informed Yu that it would be impossible for Chinese
successfully to Explain to American people such USE of
American Equipment and later after communicating with
Stilwell he informed Yu that Stilwell does not wish
any of the American Equipped forces used in Northwest.
In reply to my question Hearn said war Department
had not been informed.
