COHEN, COLE, WEISS & WHARTON ATTORNEYS AND COUNSELLORS AT LAW 61 Broadway New York 6 N.Y. November 23, 1945 Under Secretary Dean G. Acheson, Department of State, Washington, D. C. Dear Dean: Following up my letter to you with reference to the United States Committee for the Care of European Children, I am enclosing, for your information, a copy of a letter received by the Committee from Miss Katharine Lenroot, Chief of the Children's Bureau, and a copy of a cable from Miss Lenroot to Mr. George Warren at the Embassy in Paris. In view of my statement to you in the memorandum which accompanied my letter that we had only heard of small groups of children who were available to come over here, I thought you should be apprised of the opinions of persons on the UNRRA staff working in the American zone in Europe. If anything like the program mentioned by Miss Lenroot is to be put into effect, it would be my view that there should be a definitive determination of policy on this whole question at the highest levels. We of the Committee would, of course, be glad to come to Washington to support such a program, if in your view intercession on our part would be helpful. If you desire to discuss this matter with me, I could get down to Washington some time during the week of December 3rd. I probably could not get there before that time. My best to you.
