COPY Washington, D. G. March 19, 1941 Mr. B. P. Campbell, Executive Editor Kaneas City Journal Kansas City, Missouri Dear Mr. Campbell: Reglying to your letter of recent. date, my office has talked with the Canadian Pacifie Lines here in Washington, and they tell us that they have long waiting lists of persons waiting for passage to the American continent, but that since they have no more reglar paseenger ships in service it is an extremely difficult natter for any one to get passage. Their cargo ships have no definite schedules and accommodate only eight or ten passengers at the most, and only men are given places on these ships. They have promised me to go more fully into the case of Mollie Ann Carpenter, however, and will let me know if there is any possibility of arranging passage for her at any time in the near future. When I have heard from them, I will be glad to forward the information to you for Dr. and Mrs. McHale. I certainly do hope that this can be worked out. Sincerely yours, Harry s.
