LADIES AND GANTLIAN:
It is a pleasure to be with you this evening. I en always happy
when I'a with the Young Democra ta. Young Democrota ere the hope of the
Democratic Party, and the Democratic Party is the hope of the nation.
You yourg Democrate have a very great responsibility resting upon
your shoulders. It is your duty to tako up the burden or the Party of
Jefferson, Jacisson, Wilson and Tranklin D. Roosevolt - a Party that has out-
lived the Federaliste, Whige, Kaow-Nothinga, and is now witnessing the
pessing of the Republicans.
The Regublienns have noither leader nor policy. Thay know not if
they are Hooverites or Lendonites. They have Glenn Trank on one limb and
Vendenberg on the other. Thoy are against everything and for nothing the
Perty of Progress proposes. Their sympathizers atili control the metropol-
Itan preas and the big money sources of the nation. Thet situntion la not
unknown to the sveryday citizan. Thay fool no one but theuselves. They
acquso us in one broeth or wanting to oreate a dictator, and in the next of
delivering the country to communiem.
They nake the most of the Prosident'a deairo to have a Congress
elected in syapathy with the 1deala and pletfora of the Democratic Party.
They raise every possible to obacure the reel issue, which 1a the
titenie struggle between the resetionary forces and the progressive or liberal
forces of this netion. What 1a left of the Republieans, and the followors
of greed end ogpreasion, are trying by every means at their to regein
control of the Government. It 15 necessery that wo have e Congress in syapathy
TRUMAN
with the asuse of the common people. All the high sounding phrases a readion-
ery cen une will not make hir a liberal.
