MEETING BETWEEN LOCAL RELIEF AND RE-EMPLOYMENT COMMITTEE
AND THE LOCAL UN-EMPLOYMENT COMMITTEE
On January 31, 1934, in the City Hall in the City of
Trenton, Missouri, the local Relief and Re-employment Committee
had a meeting to hear all complaints from the committee re-
presenting the un-employed men in Grundy County.
This meeting was called for two reasons: First, to give
people an idea of the amount of relief and the amount of
employment that has been furnished the people of Grundy County
since the CWA has been in operation. Second, to give a hearing
to all men who have complaints against the men now employed on
the CWA. They submitted a list, in writing, of men working
but who, they thought, should not be working (this list is
attached, also reasons why the men should not be employed).
The Relief Committee appointed a committee of men to in-
vestigate every man working. If, for any reason, a, man mis-
represented the number of his dependents and his financial
condition this man should be immediately taken off the CWA
pay-rolls. And a man registered in the CWA office and

Some of the members of the un-employed committee
not have a clear idea of the rules and regulations with
which the Relief committee has to comply. This meeting
helped to clear up certain misunderstandings and dis-
satisfaction in Grundy County. Although at all times there
are chronic agitators who think that things are not being
done as they should be.
