In May, Truman declared his candidacy for the United States Senate. All of the pages from May through November document Truman's travels through Missouri during the primary campaign and general election. The numbers on the left side of each page usually indicate the mileage on his car, followed by the name of the town he visited, along with the time and duration of his visit. He also made note of any people he met with, if they were likely to vote for him or against him, and the enthusiasm of the crowds.",
