ADDRESS Federal Reserve Bank Building CASE RECORD NO. 92832 DATE OF EXAMINATION 9-24-56 REFERRED BY DOCTOR Wallace Graham PARTS EXAMINED Complete gastrointestinal series ROENTGEN FINDINGS Negatives of the abdomen and pelvis made in two projections show the kidney shadows and psoas muscles smooth and regular in outline with no evidence of urinary calculi. There are numerous phleboliths in the pelvic cavity. The sacro-iliac articulations are smooth and regular in outline and there is no pathological change in either hip joint. NEGATIVE ABDOMEN AND PELVIS. A negative of the gallbladder region shows no evidence of stones. NEGATIVE GALLBLADDER AREA. Examination of the gastrointestinal tract by means of a barium meal reveals no abnormalities of the esophagus. The stomach shows good peristalsis and motility with no intrinsic or extrinsic filling defects. There is nothing to suggest a hiatus hernia. There is a smooth, well visualized duodenal cap and the second portion of the duodenum shows a small diverticulum arising from the medial wall which is not tender to pressure and is of no clinical significance. Negatives were also made at the one hour and at the 2/2 hour intervals following the meal, these show only a trace of the meal remaining in the stomach at the end of 2 1/2 hours with some of the opaque medium still in the diverticulum of the second portion of the duodenum. The head of the meal has reached the splenic flexure, as the end of 2 1/2 hours. The small intestinal seg- mentation and mucosal pattern appears entirely normal. There is no evidence of any obstruction and nothing to suggest constant filling defects. NEGATIVE UPPER GASTROINTESTINAL EXAM NATION WITH NORMAL EMPTYING RATE AND NORMAL APPEARING SMALL INTESTINE. DIVERTICULUM SECOND PORTION OF DUODENUM OF NO CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE. Examination of the colon with a barium enema reveals the entire colon to be outlined without evidence of obstruction and nothing to suggest any intrinsic or extrinsic defect.
