Graham
This patient was admitted to the hospital having
slipped and fallen in his bathroom, causing a fracture
of the 8th and 9th ribs on the left side, posterior
axillary line. Also suffering a rather severe lacera-
tion over the right eyelid which involved the supra-
ocular muscle, severing this muscle in the eyebrow and
causing a considerable lidlag on the right side.
This was sutured as described and he progressed quite
well.
He has a first degree atrial ventricular cardiac block.
His Laboratory Findings: Urinalysis: specific
Gravity, 1.008; reaction, 6.5; negative albumin sugar
and
White blood cells, 0-2. Red blood
cells, O-l. Rare hyalin casts and rare
granular casts. Rare
cells and
moderate. Later urinalysis revealed a slight trace of
Albumin; reaction, 6.0. specific Gravity, 1.011. Rare
hyalin casts;
crystals. Negative
bile and Sugar.
Hematology: Hemoglobin, 14. Hematocrit, 40. WBC,
7300; segs, 57; non-segs, 1; eos, 2. Lymphs, 34;
monos, 6. Adequate platelets. Sedimentation Rate was
28 which was somewhat elevated. In addition, the
Fasting Blood Sugar was 138. BUN, 11. Chlorides, 92.
Sodium, 133. Potassium, 3.1. Calcium, 9.0. Alk.
Phos., 6.5. Acid Phos. 0.3. Bilirubin, 1.0; direct,
0.2; indirect, 0.8. Ceph. Floc. 3 plus. SGOT, 62.
Amylase, 37. Thymol turbidity, 3.8.
Most of these tests were somewhat abnormal; he is to be
treated accordingly, and retests made at a later date.
The Fasting Blood Sugar was studied later and found to
be 98 mg. Blood Cholesterol was 235. The rueumatic
arthritic test was slightly positive. He developed a
chest congestion of which a culture was made and found
