applicable DEC 28 1986 EXECUTIVE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT BUREAU OF THE BUDGET WASHINGTON, 25, D.C. DEC 27 1945 My dear Mr. Latta: The Congress has enacted H. R. 915, "For the relief of Fairview School District Numbered 90, Pratt County, Kansas." It is the purpose of the bill to pay the sum of $2,444.40 to Fairview School District No. 90, Pratt County, Kansas, in settlement of its claims against the United States for expenses incurred in moving and relocating its school house at the request of the War Department, in order that the land previously occupied by the building might be used for an Army air base. It appears that in the spring of 1942, the military authorities in charge of an Army operational training unit project desired to obtain the land on which the school building was located, and re- quested the removal and relocation of the building in order that the Government might proceed with construction work upon the land; that the members of the school board executed a right-of-entry agreement whereby the Government was granted the right to enter upon the land for construction purposes; that the school board placed the building on skids and moved it to a new location, and in doing so incurred expenses in the aggregate amount of $2,444.40. A facsimile of the enrolled enactment has been referred to the War Department, and its reply, interposing no objection to the approval of the bill, is attached. I am authorized by the Director of the Bureau of the Budget to recommend that the bill be approved. Very truly yours, Assistant Director, Flinky Legislative Reference. Mr. M. C. Latta, The White House. Enclosures: Letter from War Department. Copy each of House and Senate reports.
