BROMLEY SMITH THE WHITE HOUSE Subject: Guatemalan President's Congratulatory Message on Schirra Flight. Your memorandum of October 5 transmitted for the Depart- ment's consideration the text of a telegram dated October 4 sent by President Ydigoras of Guatemala to the President ex- tending congratulations on the Schirra flight. The copy of the Spanish text of the message and an English translation are enclosed. Enclosed is a suggested reply. If the reply is approved, it is recommended that it be transmitted telegraphically through our Embassy in Guatemala City. Release of the reply would be made only at the initiative of President Ydigoras. Han William H. Brubeck Executive Secretary Enclosures : l. Suggested reply. 2.
