CONGRESSIONAL GENERAL OS 4 C0303 November 5, 1963 Dear Congressment The President has received your letter of October 28, and has asked me to reply to your inquiry about the Administration's current position on the entire space program in view of the recent speculation about the future of the Soviet Union's program. This question was raised at the Presidential press conference subsequent to your letter, and the President in his reply made every effort to clarify the Administration's position. He made clear the Administration's unchanged support for the program, and his conviction that we should adhere to our carefully worked-out program, regardless of what the Soviet Union may do, or says it may do. The President has asked me to express his appreciation for your continuing intdrest and support as Chairman of the Space Sciences and Advanced Research and Technology Subcommittee, and also for the support of the other members of your Sub- committee. It is an example of the kind of Executive-Legislative rblationship that is very much in the public interest. Sincerely yours, Lawrence F. O'Brien Special Assistant to the President Honorable Joseph E. Karth House of Representatives RECEIVED Washington, D. C. NOV GENTRAL 7 HLES jl
