Additional Leads
1.
The "Murret Lead": Last year Mark Lane interviewed
mitro
the MURRET. family (Oswald's aunt) and learned that
signiture
a few days. after Lee had left New Orleans -- which
is to say a few days after September 24, 1963 --
two men appeared at the MURRET home to ask where
Lee was. One of them was described by Mrs. MURRET
as a tall, well-dressed, gray-haired man. When
shown a number of photographs -- by Mark Lane, who
conducted the questioning -- Mrs. MURRET picked out
a picture of SHAW as one of the two men. My
SHAW
recollection is that this was a distinct identifica-
tion, in the sense that she was not hesitant about
selecting the picture, but that we intended to follow
it up by bringing her to court so she could see him-
To my knowledge this was never done, probably because
we were so overloaded with false leads at the time.
I think that the follow up on this could best be
handled by Mark (who will be back in town approximately
March 27th), however -- inasmuch as Mark is not per-
manently based here -- a member of the office staff
should maintain contact with Mark concerning follow-
through on this lead. (Since SHAW may not be handily
available for sometime, perhaps we could obtain some
footage from Channel 12 so that persons who have made
a tentative identification of a still photo can see
him on film.)
