NIX - continued:
When I asked Mr. NIX where the original of the film
which his father took at Dealey Plaza was, he said that it had
been sold to UPI, and that the gentleman who should be contacted
relative to the film is a MR. JACK REINHART, UPI, New York, N. Y.
Also, it is perhaps possible to contact a MR. REESE SCHONFELD
with United Press International in New York City. This informa-
tion was supplied by MR. DICK SPRAGUE.
MR. NIX informed me that approximately 2 years ago
when CBS was compiling their documentary relative to the Kennedy
assassination, that he was informed that UPI had grossly mis-
managed the NIX film, and that they were not in possession of
the entire film any longer as portions ofit had been sold off or
of)
mis-placed. However, Mr. NIX informed me that his father was
in possession of two reproductions Of the original film. MR. NIX
also told me that he and his father viewed the original film
approximately 75 or 80 times, and that he and his father would
be able to testify that the two copies which are in his father's
possession are to the best of his knowledge true and accurate
reproductions from the original.
Therefore, in order to have this film admitted into
evidence upon trial, it will be necessary for both ORVILLE NIX,
SR. and ORVILLE NIX, JR., to appear in New Orleans as witnesses
for the purpose of attempting to identify this film.

MRS. MARY MOORMAN:
2832 Ripplewood Drive
Dallas, Texas
Telephone: Davis-1-9390
On this date, January 17, 1969, I went to the home
of MRS. MOORMAN. She informed me that she was presently in
possession of the original Polaroid picture which she had taken
in Dealey Plaza on the date of the assassination. MRS. MOORMAN
seemed to be somewhat uncooperative, and stated that in order
for her to appear, and in order for her to bring her photograph
to New Orleans formal subpoenaes would have to be issued through
the interstate rendition of witnesses act. I informed MRS.
MOORMAN that these proceedings would be instituted. She stated
that she would honor such a procedure.
I *recommend that these proceedings be instituted
promptly.
NOTE: Upon this date, January 17, 1969, upon returning to the
Cabana Motor Hotel in Dallas, Texas, I had a message to
contact MR. ROBERT H. JACKSON, Associated Press, at
RI-2-3447. MR. JACKSON is the superior of MR. JAMES
ALTGENS. MR. JACKSON Informed me that because of policy
rules of the Associated Press that it would be necessary
to file the formal pleadings in order to assure MR. ALTGEN's
appearance in New Orleans as a witness. These proceedings
should be instituted at once.
