65 XIV A PROCESS OF ELIMINATION On the basis of conclusive evidence, we have eliminated nine more of our remaining hypotheses and sub-hypotheses, leaving twenty-eight still open. Of the remaining number, the largest group (nine) require that 399 come to rest somewhere in the President's car (as a result of the shoot- ing); be recovered therefrom, and placed on the stretcher on which it was found at Parkland Hospital. Some brief testimony by FBI firearms expert Frazier is in order here, for he examined the car within hours after the assassination: lfr. Specter: Mr. Frazier Do you have any knowledge through any source stoney whatsoever of any bullets or fragments found anywhere in the 5173 vicinity of the assassination, other than those (fragments) which you have already testified to, which were in the car, or the whole bullet from the Connally stretcher ? Nr. Frazier: No sir; I have never heard of any nor have any been submitted to me. The next questions answered by Frazier emphasize still further the un- likelihood of 399 having been found in the car (or in the vicinity of the assassination) lfr. Specter : During the regular processing of the FBI examination in this case, vould all such bullets or bullet fragments be brought to you for examination in accordance with your assignment to this matter generally? Lic. Frazier: Yes, they would.
