Adams, who first gave the name of Morris Green, ran out after his fist connected with the jaw of Agent Frank Evans. Agent Arthur Franklin, not four feet behind the fugitive, shot him and Adams rolled downstairs to the seventh floor. Agent Edward Gill ran to the sev. enth floor where two witnesses said they saw a blackjack swing several times on Adams' head. Get Out, Police Are Told. Back to the eighth floor, where women were cowering under desks the prisoner was taken and the agents attempted first aid to staunch the flow of blood.
