Pres. arrived by chopper from Camp David, Book shme shots with the long lens
as he came off. Doesn't seem very promising,
Next session around 11:30 presentation of Small Businessman of the Year
award to Domenic Donatello of Anchorage, Alaska in the Rose Garden. His
family was there. Took 200 mm. lens and tried to take color.
After that went in with George Reedy and Bill Moyers, took just a few shots
in the office.
Then around 12:30 the Pres. saw His Excellency Amintore Fanfani,
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Italy,
an old friend of the President, from way back. They had a short sesion in
the office, then went out for a walk, called the Press and the Press photogs.
Where I missed a picture. I want to be sure to take long
angle shots
of the Press photogs when they are running for the President on one of these
walks. In the past I've been concantrating on just the President. But I'd like
to get some action shots when they're all on the run running toward him.
Then they went back into the office and had a session with Fanfani, the interpreter
from the Italian embassy and the Italian Amb. Dick Davis from State, and a
very bright young Negro from State( get name from Marie Flahmer). The Pres. then
introduced Fanfani to the reps. of US News and World Report who were waiting
for him in the cabinet room, then walked Fanfami out to the car.
Then he immediately went to lunch up in the Mansion with members in US News
and World Report. I took a few pix in the West end of the Bldg. and then left.
