JOHNSON, Daily Diary White House Tuesday, November 15,1966 Mrs. Johnson began her day at (Place) Date Entry No. Time Activity 8:00 Breakfast in President's room. 9:30 Worked at desk signing mail 10:00 Talked to Liz 11:15 Finished with Liz. Then worked on desk. 11:47 Left for comb out at Jean Louis. Arrived luncheon at Statler Hilton: American Nurserymen's Association Sat next to Mary Lasker at head table. Anxious to know what beautification impact had been. Nebraska man told Liz: "My business is up 33 1/3 % in the last two years. Because the First Lady has expanded interest in beautifying from Garden Club to the City Manager". Handed out awards to 40 people. Saw exhibits of colleges and libraries and what they are doing. Returned to White House with Liz and gave her a statement about the operation, "Just glad he's getting it done" 2:30 Returned from luncheon to 2nd Floor. Worked with Ashton on mail-Asian thank-yous. Talked to Dr. Cain. 4:00 Talked to Patsy about silver cups for Dr. Young's Claudia, about her job, Buzz. Cleaned off desk more. Into President's room several times to check on him. Called Mary Lasker to come in. 4:45 Mary Lasker came in-up to 2nd Floor. 4:55 With Mary to West Wing; Oval Office 5:18 Mary Lasker left. (TJ returned to 2nd 6:19 Back to President's office 6:39 Left with President for hospitalAlso along were Bill Moyers and Mary Stater. 7:00 Arrived hospital. and went to Suite after greeting newsmen outside.
