THE WHITE HOUSE WASHINGTON MRS. LYNDON B. JOHNSON, Daily Diary Mrs. Johnson began her day at (Place) Luci & Pat's home, 27 06 Macken, Austin Date Tuesday, 24 October 1967 Entry No. Time Activity Dictated 2no N umber 1967 / Got Lyn up. Had hair combed. 9:00 left the house with Simone in, drove to Southwestern University, Georgetown, Texas. We were greeted by Dr. HatcherCand M/M Lord. After looking at a collection of African art, we went to the Library to participate in the presentation of Clark memorabilia and books/Luci and Pat were also there). I went up to the Second Floor, put on cap & gown, and joined the procession to the University Chapel where I received an honorary degree. (The convocation was broadcast on closed circuit TV). 2 12:45 Went to the Lords' home for an elegant luncheon on the lawn -- at my table were the Lords, Alice & George Brown, Amb/M Clark and Bishop Martin. There was a pecan tree in the center of the garden - - beautiful weather -- strolling musicians. Ed Clark gave very humorous off-the-cuff remarks. 3 3:15 Arrived back at Luci & Pat's. 4:35 Vent with Phyllis Nugent to her new apartment on Harris Blvd. to view progress of re-decorating. 5:06 Returned to Luci's. L 7:38 With Luci, Pat, & Lyn drove to Youngblood's Restaurant for dinner. 8:42 Left Youngblood's alone. Drove to the Ranch. 9:34 Arrived at the LBJ Ranch. Retired.
