JOHNSON, Daily Diary The White House Mrs. Johnson began her day at (Place) Date Monday, 29 July 68 Entry No. Time Activity ND 6:45 Breakfast with the President. He had been awakened by tree sprayers outside his window. 8:48 Left the White House with Bess. 9:05 Left from National Airport for New York. 9:55 Arrived -- Laguardia Airport. 10:30 Arrived at the Hotel Pierre. Tried on clothes that Miss Treyz and Marquise brought over. Lunch with Bess, Miss Treyz, and Adele Simpson. Talked with Liz, Dr. grover, and Mrs. Steinbeck on the phone. Tried on clothes all afternoon, except from about 4-6:15 when Ctj took a nap. 6:30 M/M Robert Merrill, Jeanne Vanderbilt, and M/M John Secondari in for cocktails. 8:15 Left for the Helen Hayes Theatre with Bess to see "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie." After the performance, Robert Dowling took Ctj backstage to meet the star, Zoe Caldwell. 11:00 Left the theatre with Bess. 11:10 Returned to the Hotel Pierre. Retired.
