Dear Thr. Ramsoy:
Thia will naknowledge your letter of January 18th.
Prom the tenor of your lettor it ia apparent that the
lettor was not written with the iden of elaborating on the
frots, as you soe them, but rather was calculated to lay upon
my doorstop the blemo for 2322 incident of which I had no know-
lodge nor over which I had may control. ity first information
come to no in the form of = wiro from a constituont rolating
the difficulties concerning the burial of Folix Longoria and
beseeching my apcistance in the matter. At the time that wiro
reached me the Longoria incident necessarily had alroady occurrod
and the story about 1t had broicon in the
In order that you might ngain hava the feots so far as
my actions in the mattor are concernod, I wish to agnin remind
you that upon receipt of the wiro I d1a investigate the story
related in the wire. At my own expenso, I called Texas and
talked with two different informad and vory objestivo persons
in whom I have grent confidonce. They had already investigated
the story and confirmed the fects substantially as thoy were
sot out in the wire to I zande arrangements
to have the body of Folix Longoria laid to rest oither in
the Arlington National Cemotory or in the Cemetery
at Port Houstong Texas. I made no pocomiendations to the
family or anyone olso as to whero the bay should be buried.
I toll the Longoria farily that I had rade the nbove outlined
arrangenents and that I was happy to do 30. I nskod that they
ndvise ne of their wishos in the nnttor. I have no apologies
to make for my netions in this case, nor for the motives which
prompted my actions.
