COPY February 16, 1949 My dear Dr. Garcia: I am writing this letter just after returning from Arlington Cemetery whore Felix Longoria's body was buried this afternoon in an impressive ceremony. It is my sincere hope that this brought to the Longoria family some measure of gratification and relief from the embarrassment I know they must have felt during the past month. The family -- all of them -- seem to be exceptionally fine people. We have enjoyed having them hore, although I wish the circunstances of our visit and association could have been happier. If ever there is any way in which I may be of further service to them, it will be a pleasure to ão whatever I cane I wish to thank you for your helpfulness, also. Your assistance has meant a great deal, and I son grateful. As I told you, I have not sought and do not seek any personal attention for my small role in this. I hope there will be no further reason for this to linger in the newspapers or instigate unnecessary contention. with my best personal regards, Sincerely, Lyndon B. Johnson Dr. Hector P. Garcia, President American OI Forum Corpus Christi, Texas hb - longorie reburial [1 of 2
