ELI WIF-ER S. w. HENDERSON, JN PRESIDENT J. H. KURTH Jm. CLAUDE w. BRYANT. wize y - MANAGER JAN 17 A.M. ChY BUILDING MATERIAL company Retail Lumber Dealers GENERAL OFFICE STEPHENVILLE, TEXAS January 13, 1949 Hon. Lyndon Johnson U. S. Senator Washington, D. C. Dear Mr. Johnson: Allow me to compliment you on the assistance rendered the widow of a Tezas hero, Felix Lengoria. The refusal of Three Rivers funeral home to handle the body of Longoria on account of his being of Mexican descent is a deplorable affair and I hope that our good people of Texas are not judged by other states and by the outside world and placed in the class of this one man. Incidents of this kind do more to produce race hatred than the patrictic citizen can live down in a long time. Thanks for your happy solution in arranging for the burial of this hero in Arlington National Cemetery with military honors. A few months ago I supported you in the election but I am a lot stronger Johnson man now. Yours very truly, Claude W. Bryant CWB/K Yards BALLINGER BRADY CLEBURNE COMANCHE EDEN STEPHENVILLE WOODSON [2 of 2)
