President just before the last trip.
No one in the White House should
ever acknowledge a letter from
Dormann
file will reveal why.

in heartily congratulating you on the establishment of so thorough
an historical endeavor. The information gathered from the
Departments will be invaluable to those serious students of the
Presidency and the Government of the United States.
Many of the ideas for the future receive their inspiration from
historical efforts of the past, and what you are doing, not only
in this Directive, but also in your decision to dedicate yourself
to teaching the principles of the Government of the United States
and in particular the Presidency, is beyond the fondest hopes of
any educator.
May you continue to have every possible success in this educa-
tional field.
