year 2 wa us EXECUTIVE August 5, 1965 C0304 F03-2/C0304 Dear Dr. Simard: McGeorge Bundy has asked me to answer the letter of 28 July from you and Mr. Lipschutz concerning US ro- lations with Egypt. To my knowledge, Mr. Bundy has not been asked to 'examine U. relations with Egypt. Nor are we aware of any current State Department recommenda - tion to "considerably increase" aid to Egypt. Nonsthe- less, I can assure you that the viewe you express will be taken fully into account. On the other hand, 1 do think it fair to add that in the last five years there does not appear to have been any major crisis in the Near East which contained signifi- cant riek of triggering World War III. Perhape U.S. policy had something to do with this. Sincerely, R. W. Komer Dr. Albert Simard Society for the Prevention of World War III, Inc. 50 West 57th Street Now York, New York RECEIVED AUG 5 1965 CENTRAL FILES [1 of 17]
