In this letter, Lady Bird Taylor writes to Lyndon B. Johnson that she is disappointed that she did not receive a letter from him that day. She took Isabel, Nig, Panky and Willy Floyd to the fair and while they were there, she saw Somerset Maugham's Of Human Bondage. She tells Lyndon B. Johnson the books arrived but not the clippings. She mentions misplacing her diploma and ends saying they met one month ago. The letter does not have a signature at the end.

In this letter to Lyndon B. Johnson, Lady Bird Taylor writes on stationery from the New Hotel Monteleone in New Orleans saying she showed her father her ring when she returned from Austin, and they talked. Her father and other family and friends think she should wait before marrying.

She describes finding and cleaning her mother's stone flower pots. She tells Johnson he was sweet to call her but not to call person-to-person anymore because it is too expensive. She says she will mail back the proofs the next day even though she hates to give them up and asks him to write her about his plans.

She says Gene [Boehringer] will take the "Zephyr" train to Dallas and will be there for the weekend. She tells Johnson about the death of a friend's husband in an oil well explosion and asks him to write the widow. She ends the letter by sending him a rose petal she has kissed and commenting on his picture proofs.
